Nostalgia Network is a Naarm/Melbourne based archiving studio founded and led by Romanian-Australian archivist and artist Ol Marin (she/her). The studio is a small team who work closely with external experts, academics, and technicians.
The work is activist-minded, with a focus on excavating socio-political and cultural histories and the outcomes are orientated toward empowering individuals, groups, and communities to tell their stories. There is an urgency to do this before ephemera like films, photographs, books, and paraphernalia deteriorate with time, taking with them the historical contexts, personal histories and memories attached.
The studio consults and assists clients in every stage of the archiving process from inspecting, assessing, sorting, inventorying, to digitising and storing materials including but not limited to moving image materials, photographs, slides, book and paper collections, ephemera, and miscellaneous objects. We believe that every collection is unique, whether it be personal, private or institutional, and take pride in developing custom solutions that meet the specific needs of each client.
